Lizz Wright raises her voice and fills the air with a sound that
is rich, primal, and comes from the center of the earth. At the
Birchmere in Alexandria, Va. On June 20, the talented jazz diva
won over the audience with provocative cuts ("I'm Chasing
Strange") from her new CD, Dreaming Wide Awake, and brought
them to their feet with favorites from her best-selling debut Salt,
including the title track: "One thing that life cannot do,
it can't take your song from you…" Let's
hope nothing ever takes Lizz Wright's song from her.
